A romantic holiday can happen almost anywhere.  While it is true that some destinations bespeak romance more than others, your romantic holiday is strictly up to you and your loved one.

Many people find holidays set near the ocean to be especially romantic.  The kiss of the sun and the tang of the salt air influences them in a manner that can only lead to romance.  Imagine a walk on a moonlit beach or a horseback ride through the surf and you might be imagining some of the most romantic moments of your life.

After you have decided on the locale, try choosing accommodations with a romantic theme.  You might want to choose a bridal suite or a special room equipped with a two-person hot tub or other romantic amenities.  Champagne is always a romantic compliment as would be caviar or strawberries and cream.  Perhaps, you will want to take a nighttime carriage ride if one is offered in the location at which you take your romantic holiday.  Ladies love roses or other fresh cut flowers in bouquet or scattered about the bedding.  Remember to go to a fine restaurant where they will serve you and your man his favorite meal, perhaps followed by a brandy.  The way to a man’s heart usually is, indeed, through his stomach.

Pre-planning can be key to a successful romantic holiday.  Perhaps you want to plan an overnight stay in a Scottish castle, a gondola ride in Venice, or just those rose petals scattered invitingly in your suite.  To make your holiday truly romantic, you will want to take every opportunity to surprise and thrill your companion.  This will take forethought and planning.

The key point is that you can make any vacation from the weekend getaway to a month long tour a romantic holiday if you add the right components to the experience.
